Welcome to The Nethersole Church of England Academy

Year 3 and 4 Stone Age Workshop

Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic time when ‘Stone Age Ben’ came to spend the day with us!  He taught us a Stone Age action game and lots of facts about the Ice Age and Stone Age.  We then had an opportunity to dress as Stone Age people and do some role plays based around life in the Stone Age.  We enjoyed performing our role plays to the rest of the class!  After this, we looked at some amazing artefacts that Ben had brought in.  We looked at Stone Age arrow heads, spear heads, a bull’s horn and a deer antler amongst other things.  Ben told us how they would have been used as tools at the time and we asked him lots of questions about them.  In the afternoon, we made our own arrow and spear heads and bowls out of clay.  We found out a bit about Stonehenge and how it was made and then also had a go at making our own mini Stonehenge models!  At the end of the day, it was Jemison class vs Attenborough class in a Big Stone Age quiz!  We were neck and neck at the end so had to choose a class champion to represent us in a final round of the action game.  It was so close – the jury is still out on who actually won the tiebreaker!  The children all had lots of fun though and had a thoroughly enjoyable day!
