Year 5 and 6 Visit to Coventry Transport Museum

Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic time on their WWII trip. When we visited the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, we learnt all about how Coventry was impacted by the war and even got to go beneath the museum, into an underground public air-raid shelter which was used in WWII. Some of us were able to dress up as different wartime people (such as Wardens and firefighters) and we came face-to-face with real-life gas masks, air-raid sirens and even a bomb! On the second half of our trip, at the Coventry Transport Museum, we enjoyed a rationing, evacuation and Blitz workshop. We completed a range of problem-solving activities to deepen our understanding and were able to walk through a replica WWII street for an immersive Blitz experience. The experience has really helped to deepen our understanding of the war, and has helped with both our English and History!
